2-Fluorodeschloroketamine or 2-FDCK is a relatively less known substance of the arylcyclohexylamine class which is known to produce anesthetic, dissociative and hallucinogenic effects when used. 2-FDCK is related structurally to other arylcyclohexylamines like ketamine and deschloroketamine and produces similar effects as well. It is popular among recreational users for its hallucinogenic effect inducing ability which has been described as an “out of body” experience in a state called dissociative anesthesia. It has a very brief documented history of human use and thus only little is known about its metabolism or toxicity.
2-FDCK is an arylcyclohexylamine drug and they are named after their structures which have a cyclohexane ring bound to the aromatic ring with an amine group. It is named for containing a fluorine molecule at its phenyl ring rather than chlorine which is there in ketamine. It is thought to produce all its effects due to its action as an NMDA receptor antagonist which means that it does not allow the electrical signals to pass between neurons in the brain and spinal cord. This produces an effect that leads to loss of feeling and difficulty moving.
The physical effects induced by consuming it include pain relief as it is an analgesic, Physical euphoria, Dizziness due to the reduction of neural transmission of electrical signals, Motor control loss or lack of bodily coordination, and delayed response times. Some side effects which are more pronounced at higher doses include spatial disorientation or the loss of depth and movement perception, tactile orientation due or the loss of the sense of feeling of touch, and general numbness of the body.
The main effects of using 2-FDCK are disconnective effects which include tactile disconnection, visual disconnection, and consciousness disconnection. Visual disconnection is the feeling of being detached from one’s vision, frame rate suppression, double vision and viewing holes, spaces and voids alongside structures and also reduction of sharpness and clarity of vision to make it completely blurred. Internal hallucinations are also reported as an effect of using 2-FDCK. The cognitive effects of its use include enhanced creativity, anxiety suppression, time distortion, memory suppression, and Cognitive euphoria.
The long term health effects and toxicity as well as toxic doses of 2-FDCK have not been studied in-depth and thus are relatively unknown. It has a very brief human use history and anecdotal evidence from users suggests that there are no negative health effects on low and moderate doses. With regards to its dependency and abuse potential, as is the case with other NMDA receptor antagonists, chronic use can potentially be moderately addictive with high abuse potential. Withdrawal effects can occur if suddenly usage is stopped. Long term effects of its excess use are thought to be the same as ketamine with urinary tract effects such as increased urinary frequency, constant urinary pressure, pelvic and bladder pain when it fills with urine and hematuria or blood in the urine. All these effects can be avoided by limiting usage and not consuming it daily.
